The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed confidence that its Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, will secure victory in all 18 constituencies across the Northern Region in the upcoming presidential election.
The party emphasized that Mahama remains a strong contender against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, particularly in the Northern Region, where it anticipates significant support.
Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu noted that the NDC is also addressing grassroots-level internal disputes that could impact the parliamentary election, aiming to strengthen unity within the party as the elections approach.
“We think that our worst performance for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama should be a minimum of 14 seats. We have to work towards winning every other seat in the northern region and with the presidential, President Mahama should win in all the 18 constituencies in the Northern Region. That is possible.
“I have said that the battleground starts from Tamale and the larger Tamale must produce the lead verdict to carry the rest of the region along. I have been to many parts of the country. I’ve been to Binduri in the Upper East region, which John Mahama lost is recoverable.
“I have been to the Upper West region; Lambussie, and Nandom area and I am profoundly optimistic that we can recover those areas. Dr Titus Beyuo is doing very well for Lambussie.
“There were some few NDC internal wrangling and disunity which could probably affect the parliamentary elections and not the presidential,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the NDC Flagbearer, John Mahama, has begun a five-day campaign tour of the Northern Region, while the running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has begun a four-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
