A resident of Agona Swedru, Rashida Yamoah, has expressed her belief that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has played a more significant role in the development of the town compared to any other government.

Speaking on the Community Forum on Channel One TV, Rashida, a petty trader, praised the NDC for spearheading the infrastructure projects that have greatly benefited the people in the area.

“As far as I am concerned, most of the development we see in this area came during the tenure of the NDC, and that is the truth. This very lorry station was put up by the NDC, most of the schools that we have here were put up by the NDC, even the market we have here,” she said.

“When it comes to this government, I can’t point to any major development it has brought to us. The only public toilet they tried to put up, they couldn’t complete it.”

Rashida highlighted the impact of NDC-led projects, emphasizing their contribution to improving lives in the community. “All the infrastructural development the NDC brought has helped us a lot. If you compare our lorry station, for example, to other places, you will realize that our station is well developed. The same can be said about our market, and it was put up during the NDC’s tenure.”

As the December 7 elections approach, Rashida expressed her hopes for an NDC victory under John Dramani Mahama. She cited the party’s proposed policies, particularly the promise of free tuition for first-year university students, as a key reason for her support.

“I will look at the living conditions and vote accordingly. I won’t tell anybody who to vote for, but if you look at your situation and feel it’s good for you, that’s fine. Otherwise, vote for change. One of the parties said they are going to implement a policy allowing first-year students to attend university for free.

“I think that’s a good policy, and I wish I had that opportunity. So, if a government is bringing such a policy, it’s my wish and prayer that Mahama wins the election to implement free tuition for our children,” she concluded.
