The Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has denied allegations that she accepted money from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in exchange to reverse her decision to contest the Agona West parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.

Rumors about her change of stance intensified following the NPP’s walkout during a parliamentary session on Tuesday, October 22.

However, the former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, in a statement, reaffirmed her decision to run as an independent candidate.

She emphasised that she remains committed to her campaign and is actively engaging with her constituents ahead of the December 7 elections.

“When I heard the news, I was amazed. I was like, what is happening? Is it about me or someone else? I haven’t done anything like that. I just went to parliament because I had to pick some things as well.

“We didn’t have the sitting because of the things that were going on. I was called by my leader and I went to his office. We had a nice conversation, and we took pictures as usual.

“We take pictures all the time in parliament. By the time I got to Odorkor, people had started calling me that I had rescinded my decision and I had gone for 60 million or 50 million and I was like, ‘What is happening’? Nothing like that has happened. Nobody has given me any money and I can say it on authority.

“You can call my leader and find out from him. I spoke to him, and he also said he didn’t know where the rumour was coming from, so let’s just forget about it and continue with my campaign,” she stated.
