Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has issued a stern warning that the Majority Caucus will take all necessary measures to defend their position and maintain control of the majority side of the Parliamentary Chamber.

His comments come amidst escalating tensions in Parliament over seating arrangements and ongoing political disputes between the Majority and Minority.

Speaking in response to recent allegations from Minority Chief Whip Governs Kwame Agbodza, who accused him of being “smuggled” into the Chamber ahead of an important sitting, Annoh-Dompreh dismissed the claims as baseless.

He made it clear that the Majority would not allow themselves to be pushed aside and that they would protect their position within the House.

“We will do everything and anything possible to defend ourselves and make sure that they do not walk over us,” Annoh-Dompreh declared on Channel One TV on Tuesday, October 22.

Annoh-Dompreh reiterated that his early arrival at Parliament was part of his routine, stating that he entered the Chamber through normal procedures and was simply waiting for the session to begin when the incident occurred. According to him, the security personnel asked him to step out while they cleaned the Chamber, a process he followed without issue.

“There are lessons I need to teach him, he has to learn,” Annoh-Dompreh said in a direct warning to Agbodza. “He should be careful making allegations. It is my duty to ensure everything is well.”

The heated exchanges between the two whips come at a critical moment for Parliament, as both the Majority and Minority struggle for dominance amid legal challenges over parliamentary seats.

The Speaker’s recent declaration of four seats as vacant and the subsequent Supreme Court intervention have left the balance of power in Parliament hanging in the air, creating a volatile environment.

The Majority Caucus, led by Annoh-Dompreh, remains determined to protect their side of the House and continue their work without being overshadowed by the Minority.

His comments reflect a broader sentiment within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that they will not be sidelined as political tensions mount.

As Parliament gears up for what is expected to be a contentious sitting, the heavy security presence outside the Chamber highlights the stakes at play.

The Majority’s stance, as articulated by Annoh-Dompreh, sets the tone for a potentially confrontational session, with both sides digging in to protect their interests.
