John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made it clear that he will not engage in a debate with NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mahama’s comments follow President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent challenge, where the president called on Mahama to clarify his stance on key national issues and directly debate Bawumia.

Akufo-Addo had criticized Mahama for allegedly avoiding a confrontation with the NPP’s flagbearer, urging him to use the platform of a debate to articulate his policies.

Speaking at a mini rally on Thursday at Ningo Prampram as part of his Greater Accra Region campaign, Mahama scoffed at the suggestion, emphasizing that the vice president’s record speaks for itself.

He pointed out that Bawumia’s economic management, which he believes has led to hardship and economic instability in the country, makes him an unworthy opponent in any debate.

“Nana Akufo-Addo was asking me why I’m refusing to debate Bawumia. You know, Bawumia doesn’t deserve a debate. He is losing this election.”

“I will not elevate him to my level and go and sit and debate him. Their campaign is failing. They have no message. And so he wants to be elevated to my level. No. I know my level.”
