Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa has defended the EC’s decision to re-exhibit the provisional voter register, highlighting that this move exemplifies the Commission’s commitment to transparency.
This re-exhibition, which began on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, was part of the EC’s effort to address concerns raised after the initial display of the provisional register.
The decision to re-exhibit came following corrections to errors flagged, particularly by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In line with its commitment to transparency and integrity, the EC opted to offer voters an additional chance to verify their registration details, this time through an online platform.
Speaking during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting before sharing the updated register with political parties, Jean Mensa emphasized that this action reflects the EC’s readiness to listen and respond to concerns raised by political stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the commission has given political parties and Ghanaians a four-day ultimatum to revert on any discrepancies in the register. The political parties have also been given a form to report any anomalies recorded.
