The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) has expressed concerns regarding the potential unintended consequences of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) new online voter exhibition system.

According to the General Secretary of the party, Citizen Ato Dadzie, the online exhibition could create a market for ‘goro boys,’ a local parlance for unofficial middlemen who exploit public systems for personal gain.

Citizen Dadzie was speaking during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Dadzie acknowledged that the online exhibition system offers convenience but warned that it could inadvertently encourage the rise of these intermediaries.

He noted that people might hire others to carry out the online registration and verification process for them, especially when considering the time and effort required.

“This online exhibition is good; however, it can create ‘goro’ boys. The reason is that others might want to do it for others,” he stated.
