Kwame Owusu Danso, the running mate of the Movement for Change, has stated that Alan Kyerematen is the only presidential candidate capable of ending Ghana’s decades-long political dominance by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking on the Point Blank segment of Eyewitness News on Monday, October 14, 2024, Owusu Danso stressed the need for political transformation, arguing that the current system, dominated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has outlived its usefulness and is in desperate need of reform.

“If you look at the political trajectory of this country, for the past 32 years, we’ve had the existence of the duopoly and it has become more like an entrenched political system. That system ought to be changed, we have to do something about it.

“It is precisely the reason why we are experiencing a lot of violence in our election because of the winner-takes-all syndrome and all. It is also because of people’s marriage to their political ideology.

“As I often say, ideologies are not necessarily to be followed to death if you get to a point where the ideology departs from what is reasonable then you must adjust and ensure that you do things that will express that reality.

“So, clearly, I believe that Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is the one person who will break that political duopoly. We will break that jinx, “he stated.

He continued: I’ve been to the Oti, Central Regions and the message is very loud; people are tired of the duopoly. People have had enough of 16 years of the NPP and 16 years of the NDC and the same rhetoric. It is as though recycling incompetence and unfulfilled promises.”
