The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has described the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as terrible managers of Ghana’s economy, urging Ghanaians to reject them in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

In an address at a campaign rally in Nadowli in the Upper West region, Mahama argued that the NPP’s terrible job at managing Ghana’s economy cannot be compared to the NDC’s exceptional managerial skills.

He said the NDC left a very stable economy, which the NPP has now run aground.

“If you compare the economic records of the NDC and the NPP, it is clear that the NDC is a better manager of the economy

“Because at any time that NDC has been in office, we have had a more stable economy. We have had a more stable currency. We have had lower inflation. We have had lower prices and cost of food.”

The NDC’s flagbearer also slammed the NPP for ballooning Ghana’s debt, moving it from GH¢120 billion to GH¢767 billion in the past seven years.

“I mean, just compare the two records. Today, our debts, they took it from GH¢120 billion to GH¢767 billion. And out of that debt, $11.5 billion was borrowed from Eurobank within 5 years. Do you know what that money could have done? It could have asphalted the road from Kumasi all the way to Hamile.

“It could have done the railway line from Takrodi to Kumasi to Hamile. That money could have built all the schools in this country. That money could have done all the roads in this country. With that money, we could have provided every community in this country with electricity.”
