Independent parliamentary candidate for Effiduase/Asokore, Alfred Quashie, has withdrawn from the contest.

Alfred Quashie announced his withdrawal from the contest in a letter addressed to the Electoral Commission.

Mr. Quashie contested in the 2020 parliamentary race and polled 4,760 of the total votes, representing 14.04 percent to place third.

He indicated in his letter that the withdrawal was due to reasons beyond his reach.

Below is the letter.

I write to humbly request to withdraw my application submitted to contest in the Parliamentary Elections of Effiduase/Asokore Constituency in the upcoming 2024 general elections in December.

My withdrawal is necessitated due to reasons beyond my reach, hence have no option but to take this unfortunate action. I apologise sincerely for any inconveniences this development might cause the commission.

Thanks for your kindest consideration.
