Zoomlion Ghana Limited has cleared the air on delayed payments to Youth Employment Agency (YEA) operatives under the Sanitation Module, stating they are not responsible for the holdup.
Recent reports had pointed fingers at Zoomlion for delaying allowances to YEA operatives in various parts of the country.
However, in a statement released on October 3, 2024, Zoomlion explained that the government has not disbursed funds to them yet, which is the actual cause of the delay.
Zoomlion emphasised that payment of YEA operatives’ allowances is solely determined by the government and YEA, and then released to Zoomlion for onward payment to the beneficiaries.
Despite managing the day-to-day activities of YEA beneficiaries, Zoomlion clarified that they don’t control or determine the amount or timing of payments to operatives
“Clarification on Delayed Payments: We understand the concerns about delays in the payment of allowances in some regions. However, Zoomlion is not responsible for these delays, as the government has not yet disbursed funds to the company for payment.”
Zoomlion reaffirmed its pledge to support operatives within the established parameters, ensuring timely payment facilitation once government disbursements are made.
“We wish to assure all YEA operatives and the public that Zoomlion remains committed to supporting the operatives within the agreed framework and will continue to work closely with the government to ensure timely payments when funds are made available,” it stated.
Zoomlion urged affected beneficiaries to resolve concerns through peaceful and constructive dialogue, refraining from damaging statements or actions that could unfairly harm its reputation.
“We firmly believe that it is in the best interest of and fairness to all parties involved to engage in open and constructive dialogue rather than resorting to actions and pronouncements that may tarnish the image of the company,” it said.
