The People’s National Party (PNP) has announced that its presidential candidate, Janet Asana Nabla, will not contest her disqualification from the December presidential race in court.

In a statement dated October 3, the party noted that it supported Nabla’s candidacy in the upcoming election. However, her bid was disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) on grounds that the party disagrees with but has chosen not to legally challenge it.

“The party, upon consulting its members across the country, has chosen to let it go, and rather concentrate on receiving its final certificate to enable it to operate as a full-fledged political party.”

“The PNP, as a political party, is not limited to contesting elections but rather educates citizens to help them make an informed decision about political issues, government policies, and their impact on society. In addition, the PNP shall hold the government of the day accountable by reviewing policies, proposing alternatives, and ensuring transparency,” it further stated.

The PNP appealed to its teeming followers to remain resolute as it comes out with a direction, come December 7, 2024.

The EC said Janet Nabla was disqualified for failing to correct errors in her nomination form.
