The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western North Region has launched “Operation 9 over 9,” aiming to reclaim the three parliamentary seats currently held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In the Western North Region, the NDC currently holds six out of the nine seats, while the NPP controls the remaining three.
Michael Aidoo, the NDC’s regional chairman, expressed confidence that the party will win back the three seats in the upcoming elections. He explained that the issues which led to the NDC losing those seats to the NPP have been resolved.
Speaking to the media during the Central and Western regional tour of NDC Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Aidoo emphasised that the party has made significant progress in its plans to reclaim the seats.
“There are a few mistakes we made in the 2020 elections that gave away the seat to NPP. Akontombra has always been for the NDC but there was a bit of misunderstanding that led to the seat going for the NPP. For Sewfi Wiawso’s seat, the NPP stole the elections. The areas that were NDC-dominated areas saw ballot boxes stolen among others.
“Bibiani used to be for the NDC but the NPP manipulated and won the seat. It is closer to the Ashanti Region which is a stronghold of the NPP. They usually bring people from the Ashanti Region to register in Bibiani.
“We have done our homework well and we are confident of winning. By 8th December we will win the rest of the three seats. We have tagged the campaign operation nine over nine,” he stated.
