Fitch Solutions, a UK-based rating agency, has projected a likely win for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana’s upcoming 2024 general elections.
The agency’s latest report indicates that although the NDC is expected to win, a change in leadership is unlikely to result in significant changes in the country’s policy direction.
The report highlights that even with an NDC win, the incoming administration would likely maintain the current fiscal tightening measures in line with Ghana’s commitments under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.
“In terms of the December 2024 general elections, we think that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mostly likely to win.
“However, a presumed NDC victory is unlikely to significantly alter Ghana’s policy direction, with the new administration set to continue fiscal tightening in line with the country’s IMF programme,” part of the report noted.
