A poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics ahead of the December 7 general elections indicates that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, is likely to win the presidential poll with 51.1 percent of the expected votes.

The poll positioned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at second with 37.3 percent of the expected votes.

Independent presidential candidate of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, publicly called Cheddar polled 6.2 percent of the respondents, ahead of Alan Kyerematen who polled 4.1 percent.

“The final field poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, nearly two months before the December 2024 shows John Dramani Mahama (JDM), the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, maintains his lead in the poll with 51.1% of the votes. The vice president and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) is on 37.3%, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten (AKK), an independent candidate on 4.1%, Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent candidate also on 6.2% and others on 1.3% (weighted committed voters’ model),” a part of Global InfoAnalytics’ poll report laid out the results.

The poll attributed voter apathy to a likely defeat for the NPP, as it found that 16 percent of the respondents who said they were not going to vote in the upcoming polls are the party’s supporters.

“Voter apathy is expected to be one of the challenges for the governing NPP as 16% of voters who say they will not vote are their supporters, 3% are NDC, 38% are floating voters, 4% are other parties’ voters and 39% are those who declined to reveal their party affiliations. Overall, 4.4% of respondents said they will not vote in the election.”

Cheddar’s performance moved from 3.8 percent to 6.7 percent, indicating a 2.8 percent surge in the Ashanti region.

The New Force leader also recorded a 3.4 percent improvement in the Eastern region, moving from 9.8 percent to 13.2 percent between July and October 2024.
