The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, has acknowledged that the commission made some errors during the limited voter registration process but assured the public that these mistakes will not affect the credibility of the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Speaking during her closing remarks at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Jean Mensa admitted that while errors occurred, they were minor and did not compromise the integrity of the voter registration or the electoral process.
“In the conduct of our affairs, we may have made mistakes and we have made some errors which do not go to the heart and do not affect the credibility of the registration and for that matter the election.
“They are minor errors and this is not to say that we gloss over it. The good news is that we have been very responsive. We’ve come out very quickly, we’ve issued statements, made corrections and we have moved on. We have not hidden the truth and we have not remained quiet.
“We have addressed the issues and we have told the public that yes, some errors have been made; here are the corrections and we have provided them in a timely and accurate manner. So, for us, this is the trust we speak about,” she said.
She continued: “I would like to state that we do not have anything to hide.”
