Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has reaffirmed the commission’s dedication to delivering a credible and reliable voter register for the upcoming December 2024 elections.
During an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, October 1, Jean Mensa assured Ghanaians that the EC is fully committed to fulfilling its mandate and urged the public to place their trust in the commission as the 2024 general elections approach.
She stressed the critical importance of voter registration, calling it the “foundation of any election,” and reiterated the EC’s responsibility in ensuring that the register is robust and trustworthy.
Reflecting on the successful 2020 elections, Jean Mensa assured political parties and stakeholders that the EC would replicate this success in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the commission’s track record of delivering transparent and fair electoral processes.
“We did this in 2020 and we will do it again in 2024. We urge you all and the citizens of Ghana to trust us. We will not fail you, we will not disappoint you and we commit and pledge to conducting and undertaking a free, fair, transparent and credible election come December 2024,” he stated.
