The Electoral Commission (EC) will broadcast live the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, which will focus on enhancing the integrity of the 2024 voters’ register.

According to information obtained by Channel One News, the EC’s decision to telecast the meeting is driven by its commitment to transparency. The Commission maintains that this decision was made independently and not in response to demands from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a Facebook post on Monday, Dr. Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of IT and Elections, reiterated the party’s call for live coverage of the meeting. He argued that media coverage would provide Ghanaians with “real-time and unbiased information on the state of the 2024 voters’ register after the EC’s so-called self-audit or autocorrection of their avoidable (criminal) errors and mistakes.”

The NDC has raised concerns over alleged discrepancies in the voters’ register, urging a forensic audit to address the issues. The back-and-forth between the NDC and the EC has heightened tensions as the 2024 general elections approach.

The IPAC meeting, which brings together representatives from all registered political parties and the EC, serves as a key forum for discussing electoral reforms, addressing operational challenges, and formulating strategies to ensure credible elections.
