The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that its demand for a live telecast of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 1 is to ensure transparency in the electoral process.

The Electoral Commission (EC) earlier rejected a call by the NDC for an independent forensic audit of the voter register over identified anomalies and assured that all concerns were being resolved.

The IPAC meeting at the instance of the commission is thus to prove that the corrections have been done.

But in an interview with Citi News, NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer stressed that the live telecast is essential in buying the confidence of Ghanaians.

“We think that it is very important we have the live broadcast because of the enormity of the issues at stake. This 2024 general election hinges on the electoral register; everything is about a credible register. So, if the hullabaloo is about to be resolved in a way because the electoral commissioner, according to their response to us, said we should do so they indicate to us how they have resolved all the issues that we are raising, then it is important that the media is there so that the general public can be aware with us and see what they are doing because this transparency is what everybody is looking for.”

“That is why we sent them an open letter we have given to them. They should allow the media in if they have nothing to hide, ” he stated.
