The Vice Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has emphasised that a John Mahama government will set up the women’s Bank that will give loans with low interest rates to female traders, should the NDC win the upcoming general election.
According to Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, women who are the backbone of every household need to be supported to help improve their businesses.
She accused the governing New Patriotic Party of crippling businesses as a result of “bad governance” which has worsened the Ghanaian economy.
Speaking at the NDC women’s manifesto launch in the Ashanti region, the running mate of the NDC, Prof. Jane Naane Opoku-Agyemang noted that the NDC government will protect the vulnerable in the society.
She urged women to support the NDC to win the 2024 general elections by voting massively for John Mahama.
“… Who else will listen to our little cry and who will address our concerns? Unless you join the NDC. Beyond joining the NDC, you have to get a president who listens to the worries of women, a president who respects women and a president who asks about the concerns of women and is ready to solve them.
Many of us don’t have cars, other properties mansions or storey buildings. So, President Mahama is saying that he will set up a bank for women only. With that bank, anytime you go for a loan you will get very little interest for you to be able to run your business and understand the world of business,” she stated.
