A founding member of the National Democratic Congress, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, has stated that the only time Sekondi sees developmental progress is when the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in power.

The former minister under the Rawlings administration while speaking during the campaign launch of NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Sekondi, Blay Nyamekye Armah, popularly called Lawyer Blay, said the NDC government built the Albert Bosumtwi Sam fishing Habour, the Sekondi Railways among others that created jobs, but subsequent NPP government has only stalled development of Sekondi.

He, therefore, challenged residents of Sekondi to vote for the NDC’s John Mahama as President and Blay Nyamekye Armah as their Parliamentarian to see the development of Sekondi.

“Myself and the late MP Albert Bosomtwi Sam, we went to Japan. While we were having a conversation, he [Albert Bosomtwi Sam] suggested that we should talk to the Japanese and convince them to come and put up a fishing harbour ni Sekondi because it would help us. That is how we got the Albert Bosumtwi Sam finishing Habour and we named it after him.

“Have we seen any major developments since Albert left office? All they brought is the AstroTurf but does it create jobs? You only use the turf to exercise when you are tired from working. Every long-lasting development that has occurred in Sekondi Takoradi has been the work of the NDC.

“John Mahama brought the Takoradi Port Expansion project. The late Atta Mills brought the Sekondi-Kojokrom railway project. When the NDC is in government, we will bring progress,” he stated.
