The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a stern warning in response to alleged plans by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to vandalise billboards and posters of NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a statement released on Friday, the NPP claimed to have credible information that the NDC intends to launch an operation tonight targeting their campaign materials.
The NPP has activated its systems across all constituencies and regions to monitor the situation closely.
The statement, signed by National Youth Organizer Salam Mustapha, directs NPP members to retaliate by dismantling and destroying any campaign materials of NDC’s candidate, John Mahama, if the alleged vandalism occurs.
He expressed frustration over what he describes as a recurring issue of their campaign materials being destroyed by the NDC and criticized the police for their perceived inaction.
He says the party has decided to take matters into their own hands, vowing to respond with proportional force.
“We have run out of patience since the police have shown incapacity to deal with the situation,” he stated, adding “We will nib this buffoonery ourselves by exacting proportional counter-response.”
He called on all party executives to demonstrate their readiness for the upcoming elections and to protect their campaign materials vigilantly.
