The outgoing Ashanti regional director of health services, Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang has warned of an imminent outbreak of diseases in Ghana if the galamsey menace is not urgently tackled.
He adds that Ghana risks facing food insecurity challenges in the nearest future as a result of activities of illegal mining authorities.
Speaking on the sidelines of his retirement ceremony, Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang called on authorities to sensitise illegal miners on the dangers of their actions to help reduce the canker drastically.

He adds that Ghana risks facing food insecurity challenges in the near future as a result of the activities of illegal mining authorities.
Speaking on the sidelines of his retirement ceremony, Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang called on authorities to sensitize illegal miners on the dangers of their actions to help reduce the canker drastically.
“We should be very careful with the way things are going. otherwise, if we are not careful, getting food will be a problem. Diseases will abound, shelter and everything that we have toiled for as people, we are going to lose them. For what they are doing, to be sincere with you, amounts hing ad we are going to suffer as a nation,”he stated.
As he leaves office, he recounted some of the health challenges he was confronted with including the outbreaks of Monkeypox and H1N1 in Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) while in office and how it was tackled.
