The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua has criticised the recent ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration organised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against the Electoral Commission, calling it unjustified due to their failure to provide evidence of any irregularities in the current Voters’ Register.
The NPP General Secretary in a press briefing, denied claims that the party is colluding with the EC regarding the credibility of the voters’ register.
Kodua claimed that their inquiries at the EC reveal the NDC has still not submitted any evidence concerning the alleged discrepancies or irregularities in the voters’ register.
He further accused the NDC of peddling lies and falsehoods that threaten the country’s peace and security.
“What many Ghanaians and the NPP cannot comprehend is why the NDC has still not submitted to the Electoral Commission detailed information of its so-called irregularities, discrepancies, and unauthorised manipulation of the provisional voter register despite several appeals by the EC.
“For instance, on page two of their petition to the EC, the NDC stated empathically that they have uncovered evidence of 243,540 illegal transfers, 3,957 deleted names of voters as well as 15,000 unidentified voter transfer paths in the provisional register. Yet, 13 days after the NDC first met the EC on September 6, 2024, they have still not provided a single document to authenticate any of these allegations. We ask is it not interesting?
“Indeed, if the NDC has a list of illegal transfers, why have they not submitted evidence of such illegality to be reversed by the electoral commission? We believe strongly that the nationwide demonstration by the NDC would have been justified had the EC failed to act after receiving evidence of the NDC on the alleged irregularities and discrepancies,” he stated.
