A member of the Communications Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawuratu Musah-Saaka, has stated that the ‘Enough is Enough’ protest organised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) alone will not secure electoral victory for the party if they fail to effectively train their agents on how to collate their election results.

Her remarks come after the NDC staged the “Enough is Enough” demonstration on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, against the Electoral Commission (EC) over discrepancies in the voter register for the upcoming general elections. The party, as part of its demands, asked the EC to allow for an independent audit of the register and its IT systems.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, Lawuratu stated that street protests alone would not influence election results if the NDC does not focus on properly collating their votes.

“Why would the NPP be shouting? Because we sat in IPAC, we believe that with all the reforms, the court judgements and all the Supreme Court rulings, you can hit the street a thousand times, you can shout, curse everybody in this country, you can curse the clergy, chiefs and bastardise everybody but when you can’t collate results or use a calculator you will still lose the elections.

“So, what we will urge our compatriots in the NDC is to focus on what we are doing. We are focused and we are training our polling agents. We have been told that elections are won at the polling stations, that is where the basics of everything start. From the polling station to the collation centre, goes to the regional and then it goes to the national. So, if you are alert at the polling station, nobody can bully you,” she said.
