The Roads and Highways Minister, Francis Asenso Boakye, has stated that the current government has significantly outperformed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in road construction and remains committed to enhancing Ghana’s infrastructure.
His comments are in response to NDC Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama’s question about the locations of the roads claimed to be constructed by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the minister, the NDC is intimidated by the extensive road improvements made under the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration, for which reason, John Mahama is questioning the location of roads constructed by the government.
“As we have stated before, since 2017, since Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia assumed office till the end of 2023, this government has constructed or added to the road network 12,830km of roads and our solid, unprecedented achievement in the road sector is serving as a major source of frustration to the opposition and as a result, even the former president himself had a source to wonder where the roads are.
“So, I think it is so clear that as we are launching another major project in Kumasi, I put out the facts,” he stated.
He made these remarks during the launch of the dualisation of the 23 km Tafo-Mampong road in Kumasi.
