Security Consultant in risk analysis, Prof Emmanuel Aning, has challenged the flagbearers of the two main political parties in the country Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (New Patriotic Party) and John Dramani Mahama (National Democratic Congress), to address Ghanaians on how they intend to tackle the galamsey menace.
This follows concerns about the menace and its threat to the country.
Prof Aning in an interview with Bernard Avle on Point of View on Channel One TV emphasised the need for decisive leadership from these two political figures.
“Galamsey has become an existential threat to Ghana, and I want to challenge Dr Bawumia and Mr John Mahama to stop their campaign for one day, half a day and for the two of them to tell the people of Ghana how they will bring this canker that is posing a threat to our citizens that we want to govern to an end.
“Sign a piece of paper and demonstrate that when they come to power, they will get it done.”
“…I think Dr Bawumia and Mr Mahama must demonstrate that leadership that the country that we want to govern is under threat. Its very existence is under threat,” he stated.
