The Coalition of Unemployed Allied Health Graduates has announced plans to hold a peaceful picket at the Ministry of Health headquarters on September 16th.

The protest, set to begin at 9:00 AM, aims to address the ongoing unemployment crisis among allied health professionals and demand immediate action from the government.

The coalition represents thousands of trained professionals from various allied health fields, including physiotherapy, radiography, medical laboratory sciences, and more.

They have raised concerns over the increasing number of graduates left without employment despite the urgent need for their services across the healthcare system.

“We are calling on the Ministry of Health to prioritise the employment of allied health professionals who play a critical role in delivering holistic healthcare. There is a clear demand for our services, yet many of us are left without jobs, while the healthcare system continues to be overwhelmed,” said Sir Frederick Adjei, convener for the coalition in a statement on Monday.

The coalition highlighted that the delay in absorbing qualified professionals into the healthcare workforce is contributing to inefficiencies and strain on existing healthcare resources. With the healthcare sector under immense pressure, the picket aims to urge the government to expedite recruitment processes and create more job opportunities for allied health graduates.

Members of the coalition are encouraging the public and other stakeholders to support their cause and engage in constructive dialogue on this critical issue.
