The Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to pray for the country and the electoral process as the nation gears up for the December 7 polls.
He emphasised the importance of divine guidance and national unity throughout the election period.
While speaking at the Electoral Commission Headquarters, where he submitted his nomination forms for the 2024 general elections, he took the opportunity to encourage prayers for the Electoral Commission and its Chairperson, Jean Mensa, as they manage the country’s electoral processes.
“I want to plead and ask that we all pray for God’s blessings for our dear country Ghana. As we have embarked on this process, which is an election, it is about the process towards the December 7 election, and we need God to protect and continue to bless our country. What we are trying to do is to help our country and uplift our country,” he stated.
Adding, “So, it is our hope that our country is uplifted. We believe that our prayers and our behaviours as we go through, and our conduct will be very important to ensure that this process is very peaceful and at the end of the day.”
The EC Chairperson assured Dr. Bawumia that the Commission would immediately begin reviewing his nomination forms.
“I assure you that our team will go to work immediately on your forms and we will contact you as soon as possible,” she stated.
