The 18-year-old student of O’Reilly Senior High School who tragically lost his life after being stabbed was allegedly involved in an argument with a fellow student about whose father was wealthier.
Some students told Citi News that the altercation began between Edward Borketey Sackey and a colleague, escalating into a dispute that tragically ended with Edward being stabbed three times, leading to his death.
The school has since been plagued by an uneasy calm, with reports of a reprisal attack by a gang associated with the deceased.
Meanwhile, the suspect has since been arrested by the Ghana Police Service.
The Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service and the Municipal Director of the Ledzokuku Assembly have convened an urgent meeting with the management of O’Reilly Senior High School following the tragic stabbing of the final-year student.
Tensions have been high at the school amid reports that a gang associated with the deceased attempted to storm the campus in retaliation. However, the swift response of police officers prevented the gang from attacking students and teachers, some of whom were reportedly harassed.
A concerned parent, Gabby Galley, who rushed to the school upon hearing the news, told Citi News that his child is gripped with fear following the stabbing and the subsequent attempts by some local individuals to incite violence.
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Stephen Abamfo, has sought to reassure the public, stating that a full-scale investigation has been launched to address the unfortunate incident.
