The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to ensuring that the upcoming December 7 elections are conducted with the highest standards of fairness, transparency, and integrity.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, Quartey emphasised the government’s determination to uphold Ghana’s democratic principles, expressing confidence that the nation’s reputation as a stable democracy will remain intact throughout the electoral process.
He stressed that the government’s efforts are not only focused on facilitating a smooth and orderly election but also on maintaining peace and security across the country during this critical period.
Quartey also warned that the government is fully prepared to counter any attempts by political actors or individuals to disrupt the peace or incite unrest during the elections.
“Myself as an Interior Minister, upon the instructions of President [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo], are saying that we will ensure that these elections will be free, fair and transparent and there shall and the operational word is shall, there shall be a peaceful transition of power.”
“However, we will not sit and allow people to take the law into their own hands,” he stated.
