The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, vowing not to protect any officer involved in electoral malpractice.
Dr. Bossman Asare, the EC’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, made this assurance while addressing the public during an update on the ongoing voter exhibition exercise.
Dr. Asare revealed that the EC has already taken action by suspending the Pusiga District Electoral Officer, who is currently under investigation for alleged misconduct.
“Following preliminary investigations again the commission has suspended the Pusiga district electoral officer and has invited him to the commission for findings.
“Once the investigations are concluded the commission will take the appropriate action and inform the public accordingly. The commission would like to assure the public that it will not shield any of its officers both permanent and temporarily found complicit in any of its electoral malpractices and will always allow such person to face the full recourse of the law,” he stated.
