The Minister for Food and Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, has announced that the government plans to lift the ban placed on grain exports by November 2024.
Acheampong is confident the northern Ghana dry spell will not continue beyond the 11th month.
A ban was imposed on the exportation of grains last week due to shortfalls in production figures in the northern part of the country.
Acheampong told journalists he expects the situation to normalise, leading to the lifting of the export restrictions.
“We will monitor the situation, but we believe that we will come out of this situation by November. We should be very clear when the northern harvest comes in, and the southern sector comes in, and then the imports come in. By November we should be very clear and so we will monitor and we will apprise the nation.”
