The Electoral Commission has scheduled a meeting with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday, September 6, to address concerns regarding discrepancies in the voter register.
This meeting follows concerns raised by the NDC, including allegations of voter transfers that, according to the party, could undermine the credibility of the upcoming elections.
Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT stated in an interview with Citi News that the voter register cannot be considered reliable until the Electoral Commission addresses the concerns raised by stakeholders.
“I can confirm that in a letter they have written to us confirming that we can have a meeting with them on Friday, September 6, 2024, to have a thorough discussion over the discrepancies that we have identified in the registers given to us.
“We wrote to them requesting such a meeting and they have agreed to the meeting. It is not an IPAC meeting, it is a meeting between us. The meeting should be able to address the discrepancies that we have identified. That is what we are looking for,” he stated.
