The former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, has expressed his strongest belief that John Dramani Mahama, along with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), can bring about significant and meaningful transformation in Ghana within just four years if they are given the mandate in the upcoming December 7 polls.
Terkper, who served as Finance Minister during Mahama’s presidency, is confident that the NDC’s proven track record in governance is a clear indication of what the party can achieve if it returns to power.
During a media interaction in Accra on Tuesday, August 27, Terkper underscored the NDC’s commitment to the development of Ghana, pointing to the party’s accomplishments during its previous tenure in office as evidence of its ability to lead the country toward prosperity.
According to Terkper, the achievements of the NDC under Mahama are not just promises on paper but tangible results that Ghanaians have experienced firsthand.
Terkper highlighted what he said is the NDC’s competence in fiscal management, an area where he believes the party excelled during its time in government.
He added that the NDC’s 2024 manifesto is not merely a collection of promises but is based on a solid track record of performance. This, he argues, sets the party apart from its competitors.
“NDC record in office was made clear. If there are any aspects you doubt, we can talk about it. From fiscal management you know where we ended the year with 6.1, forget about 9.3, 10.3. It was a lie and we challenged it. The IMF corrected it and we showed you the deficit the debt fiscal performance so I am saying the manifesto is based on performance.”
Terkper added that Mahama’s leadership qualities are precisely what Ghana needs at this critical juncture. He believes that Mahama’s experience and vision for the country make him the ideal candidate to steer Ghana towards economic recovery and growth.
“Terkper asserted that Mahama’s previous tenure provided a foundation for sustainable development, and with the right support, he can build on that foundation to achieve even greater progress.
