John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has outlined an ambitious plan to revolutionize education in Ghana by utilizing 5G technology and low orbit systems, such as Starlink, to extend high-quality education to students across the country.

According to Mahama, the NDC government will employ these technologies to provide students with access to top-tier teachers and educational content, regardless of their location.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC manifesto for the 2024 general elections, Mahama explained that the Ghana Education Service (GES) would select outstanding teachers to film their lessons, which would then be uploaded to YouTube for easy access by students.

Additionally, these lessons would be available on demand via Starlink internet satellites, which the NDC plans to install in every secondary school.

“We will use 5G and [low orbit systems] to improve the quality of education across the country by extending course tutorials to students everywhere.

“We have good masters in different schools. Perhaps the best math master is in Wesley Girls, the best French teacher is in Ghana Secondary School, and the best Geography teacher is in GSTS. Ghana Education Service will select these teachers and they will be filmed teaching the course online and we will upload these course contents on YouTube. So, you can go there and download what you want.

“But at the same time, it will be available on demand and because we are going to put Starlink internet satellite in every secondary school, the teachers can use Starlink to show the children the demonstration by the teacher,

“So, you could be in Bunkurugu Secondary School, and the best math master in Wesley Girls will be teaching you because you will be able to download his course material,” he stated.
