A prolonged power outage at the Chereponi District Hospital has resulted in the deaths of two patients, with healthcare services severely impacted.

The hospital has been without electricity for almost two weeks, grinding activities to a near halt.

Health workers at the facility expressed their concerns to Channel One News, urging authorities to address the issue swiftly.

They highlighted the devastating consequences of the power outage, which has crippled their ability to provide adequate care.

One said, “The light has caused a lot of problems in our lives. Just three days ago, we lost two people due to the power outage and there is some CS too, they are supposed to be done but because of the light issue, they can’t carry on those things. ”

“So we appeal to the government that they should do something about it. And we, the health workers too, don’t feel comfortable here because how to charge our phones is very difficult and our food and everything has been stored. So we appeal to the government to do something about it.”

Meanwhile, women in the community also feel the effects of the power outage, struggling to grind maize for food.

They joined the health workers in appealing for a prompt restoration of electricity.
