Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, has named some government officials and prominent individuals he claims are involved in the controversial acquisition of state-owned lands.

He accused these persons of purchasing state lands at prices significantly below market value.

According to Ablakwa, these transactions were not only improper but also lacked the necessary due diligence and transparency expected in the management of public assets.

Ablakwa argued that these individuals used their positions of power to gain access to prime real estate at the public’s expense.

He called for an immediate investigation into the transactions and urged the government to take steps to reclaim the lands in question.

Among those named by Ablakwa are Kate Gyamfua (NPP Women’s Organiser), Ibrahim Mohammed Awal (Former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture), Dr Ernest Yedu Addison (Governor, Bank of Ghana), Elsie Addo Awadzi (Deputy Governor, Bank of Ghana), Maxwell Opoku-Afari (Deputy Governor, Bank of Ghana), Maxwell Opoku-Afari (Deputy Governor, Bank of Ghana), Joseph Boahen Aidoo (CEO, COCOBOD), Dr Janet Ampadu Fofie (Chairperson, Presidential Emoluments Committee), Kwabena Mantey Jectey Nyarko (Board Member, Ghana Airport Company Limited), Anselm Ransford Adzete Sowah (Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada) and Anna Asare Oduro (Former NPP Women’s Organiser, Holland Chapter).

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources had categorically denied the sale or lease of certain state lands to cronies of the Akufo-Addo administration.

But speaking in an Eyewitness News interview on Citi FM on Friday, Ablakwa noted that “Later today I will put out part two of this list…We all see around us on a daily basis. We receive the reports across the country public lands that are being sold like there is no tomorrow.

“His (Lands Minister) refusal to publish that list is what has compelled me to put out this list because it has now become a reputational issue.”
