Premier League have revealed multiple significant rule changes ahead of the new season and this is them summarised, this is according to a report by Daily Mail Sports.
Firstly, stoppage time changes. This year, less time will be added on when a team scores a goal. Officials will now only start adding time on 30 seconds after a goal is scored.
Next, the league will now permit five players to warm up at once compared with three last season.
Ball boys and ball girls’ roles have changed, allowing them to pass a ball to a goalkeeper if the ball goes off for a goal kick, enabling potentially quicker restarts.
Penalty encroachment will also change, with the FA stating that encroachment by players will be penalised only if it has an impact, meaning that those who run into the box during a spot kick but are not seen to have affected the game will not be penalised.
Lastly, officials are looking to cut down on the awarding of soft penalties, particularly for handball, by showing leniency when the ball changes direction.
