The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG) have asked the government to halt the involvement of politically exposed persons in the distribution of farm inputs under the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme Phase 2 (PFJ2.0).
The Association highlighted that this practice contradicts the programme’s intended approach, which designated aggregators as responsible for the distribution.
During a press briefing, the Executive Director for the Association, Bismark Owusu Nortey, stressed the need for the appropriate stakeholders, including the designated aggregators, to carry out the distribution.
“We, therefore, call for the complete cessation of the involvement of politicians in the input distribution process and allow the district agricultural department, the aggregators, and the other value chain actors to play their roles as assigned or assigned in the PFJ implementation strategy.
“…We also call on parliament to summon the Minister of Food and Agriculture to address these emerging issues and concerns,” he stated.
