Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced the procurement of a crucial supply of essential consumables needed for dialysis treatments.
In an official statement, hospital management revealed that both the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Ghana Supply Company are collaborating to expedite the clearance process on an emergency basis.
This effort aims to ensure the continued provision of high-quality care to dialysis patients at the hospital.
This development comes in the wake of the unexpected closure of the hospital’s renal unit nearly two weeks ago, a move that was made without any official explanation.
The closure has drawn significant concern and criticism, particularly following reports from the President of the Kidney Patients Association, Baffour Ahenkorah, who confirmed that three patients had tragically died due to the disruption in services.
In response, the Health Committee of Parliament issued a strong condemnation of the abrupt closure of the Renal Unit at KBTH, calling for immediate action to prevent further loss of life and ensure that such incidents do not recur.
