O’Reilly SHS: Old student donates $45k worth of educational materials to alma mater

Samuel Quansah Quarcoo, a retired teacher based in the United States, has donated educational materials and essential items valued at $45,000 to his alma mater, O’Reilly Senior High School.

This donation, part of Quarcoo’s social responsibility agenda focusing on education and health, was presented at the school’s forecourt on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

The donated items include school bags, 10 laptop computers, 10 boxes of A4 sheets, 1,200 notebooks, pens, sanitary items, 200 mono desks, and boxes of markers, among others.

Speaking at the presentation, Samuel Quansah Quarcoo expressed profound gratitude to well-wishers and stakeholders in the US who have been supporting his philanthropic work to bring smiles to the faces of young students.

Quarcoo, who has been engaged in charity work for several years, said he finds fulfilment in giving back to society to ameliorate the plight of the vulnerable and underprivileged.

Receiving the donation, Nadia Annan, the headmistress of O’Reilly Senior High School, expressed gratitude and applauded the school’s alumni association for its continued support.

Meanwhile, the Assistant President of the O’Reilly Old Students Association (OROSA), Leticia Adega, announced that the school will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025.

In preparation, the centenary anniversary will be launched on September 28, 2024, and therefore called on alumni to support the organization.

Adega further revealed plans to build a multi-purpose hall to mark the centenary celebration.

Founded in August 1925 by Rev. O’Reilly Ezekiel Festus, O’Reilly Senior High School is the fourth oldest senior high school in Ghana. The institution aims to provide education and moral training for the youth, assisting them in becoming productive citizens and valuable resources for the country.
