The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has asserted that Ghana requires the leadership of someone with substantial experience to tackle the country’s pressing economic challenges.

According to the NDC’s flagbearer, only a trusted and capable government led by an experienced leader can effectively steer Ghana out of its current economic difficulties, as opposed to what he describes as an “experimental leader.”

In a passionate address to the residents of Sandema during his campaign tour of the Upper East region, Mahama elaborated on his vision for the future of Ghana and the role of the NDC in revitalising the Ghana’s economy.

He emphasised the urgent need for seasoned leadership, particularly in times of economic crisis, to restore confidence and stability.

Mahama argued that Ghana’s economy is broken into bits so much that there is no time for bringing in someone who is tantamount to a driver’s mate.

“This is the time when we need an experienced driver. This is not the time when we need a driver’s mate. And so the time is for experience. The time is for expertise. Because the situation in which our country is requires trusted and tried people who can turn our fortunes around.

“Our young people have no more time to waste on experiments. We don’t want any experimental leader to come and say we should try him and that even after four years if I don’t do well, you can change me. No. The time for experimentation is past. This is the time for trust and experience.”
