The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on the residents of Talensi in the Upper East Region to rise above financial incentives and vote wisely in the upcoming elections.

Speaking during his campaign tour in the Upper East Region, the former president accused the ruling government of amassing wealth which they will use to influence voters during the election period.

“Eight years they have been in government, they have made a lot of money; they, their children and children’s children will not suffer for the next several generations. They have a lot of money so, they are going to take that money; a little of it and they are coming to give you GH¢500, GH¢200, GH¢1,000…thinking that they are coming to buy your conscience to vote for them.

“Your value is more than GH¢500. The same thing they did in Assin North, they were walking on the street and anybody coming they give GH¢200, what did the people of Assin North do, they took the money and the day when they went and voted, they voted for the truth,” he stated.
