The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has taken a swipe at the current government, accusing it of being detached from reality and failing to address pressing issues affecting Ghanaians.
Speaking at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign, Mahama questioned the government’s effectiveness and commitment to addressing the country’s challenges.
Mahama highlighted troubling statistics, including that nearly 8 million Ghanaians who went without food for 24 hours last year due to financial constraints. He also pointed out that almost 2 million young people are neither in school nor employed, remaining idle at home.
The former president urged voters to support the NDC in the upcoming December 7 election to bring about necessary changes and address these critical issues.
“It is not about how long you’ve served, it is about how well you serve. it is not about eight years or four years, it is about hard work, truth, and trust and it is about doing the things that will create a future for our young people.
“That is why the NDC is calling on you on December 7 to do your duty to God and your country so that we can turn this nation around. This government is living in an illusion, they are living in a dream world, they are living in a fantasy world. Because if you are not living in an illusion when people are hungry, how can you tell them you are satisfied?
“We can feel the pangs of hunger and yet this government tells us we are satisfied and that never in Akufo-Addo’s government have people gone hungry. Meanwhile, the statistics clearly show that 8 million of our citizens last year, 2023 went 24 hours without food because they couldn’t afford to buy food.
