Former President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to continue the review of the 1992 constitution if he is re-elected in the upcoming December polls.
He said the 1992 constitution had served the country well, but it was time to continue the review and update the constitution to reflect the current realities of the country.
Mahama, who served as President from 2012 to 2016, said the review would focus on areas such as strengthening the independence of key institutions, improving governance, and ensuring greater transparency and accountability in public life.
Speaking at the party’s campaign launch in Tamale on Saturday, he noted that his next administration will continue “Reviewing the 1992 constitution and amending it so that it will be a living document that guides our country into the future.
“We will continue the constitutional review to amend the various sectors that are holding us back.”
