Seven firemen are currently responding to treatment at the St. Dominic Catholic Hospital in Akwatia and the Kade Government Hospital after the fire engine in which they were on board was involved in an accident at Adankrono while they were responding to an accident scene at Otwenkwanta.

Personnel on duty received a call to respond to an accident around 08:37 hrs on Sunday morning after a fuel tanker fell off the road at Otwenkwanta, the tender and personnel who were immediately dispatched to the scene 08: 38 hrs while negotiating a curve after the Gaso filling station got involved in the accident.
It is unclear what caused the accident but preliminary investigations suggest a reported steer lock caused the accident, 8 personnel were on board the fire engine with registration number FS 438 at the time of the accident with one person escaping unhurt.

Five of the personnel were rushed to the St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia while the driver and the duty officer were rushed to the Kade Government Hospital.

The Eastern Regional Fire Service Commander ACFO Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye who visited the personnel at both hospitals and the accident scene allaying fears said all personnel are in stable conditions and responding to treatment.
