President of the think tank IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has called on the government to reassess its strategy on the economy following Fitch Solutions’ prediction of a 54% win for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December elections.
The International Rating Agency also forecasted some stabilisation of the cedi but noted that factors such as youth unemployment would significantly influence voter decisions.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, Cudjoe emphasised the importance of the government taking cues from Fitch, Afrobarometer, and other organisations.
He urged the government to apologise to Ghanaians for the current economic situation and to cease the blame game.
“At the end of the day, the indices people are referring to at the end of the day with a 9 out of 10 ratio is correct. The CDD, Afrobarometer, Fitch and whatever they say, if you look at the data you cannot quarrel with it.
“We have friends in government and there is no better way of saying it; you need to wake up and probably wear sack clothes, lie portrait before us and say ‘We said it but now we are telling lies’. We need to come back to the table and fix this and stop shifting the blame,” he stated.
