Four individuals seeking to replace the Manhyia South Member of Parliament as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 elections have been cleared to contest the upcoming internal elections by the election committee.
The NPP’s Manhyia South Parliamentary seat has been left vacant following the elevation of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Five prospective aspirants picked up nomination forms, but only four of them were able to file to continue with the process.
Supporters of the aspirants on Wednesday, July 10, gathered at the party’s office while the vetting was ongoing.
The committee after the vetting did balloting for the aspirants and all is set for the Parliamentary elections on Sunday.
Danquah Smith Buttey, the NPP’s National First Vice Chairman called for a clean campaign ahead of the elections on Sunday.
“They were five; one was disqualified; one was not disqualified but couldn’t meet the election process, so he was out. Four of them qualified, so we have given them their positions on the ballot paper.
“In this game, only one person can remain; there are four, but only one can win, so they have promised us that they are going to support the one who wins to campaign,” he stated.
