The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has asserted that despite recent economic challenges, the achievements of his government surpass those of former President John Mahama.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, his running mate, on Tuesday, July 9, Dr. Bawumia stated that the NPP is prepared to defend its economic record against Mahama’s at any time.
“As head of the Economic Management Team, I can say without any fear of contradiction that the NPP’s performance on the economy is superior to John Mahama’s performance on the economy—far superior when you look at all the indicators.
“We will be going into our records; they don’t want to talk about records, but we will. We are superior in every area of performance to the NDC.
“When you look at the energy sector ‘dumsor’, we are superior. Agricultural growth, we’ve performed better; industrial growth, we performed better. When you look at the roads, railways, hospital classrooms, and fish landing sites, we’ve performed better.
“… So, it is clear that as far as the economy is concerned, we have challenges, but when you put our records against John Mahama’s records, ours is superior, and we will challenge them any day to bring their records to every sector,” he stated.
